Easter Theme - AWH Team - March Blog Hop

Hi everyone, welcome to the Art with Heart Easter blog hop.
Tonight, the team are sharing creative projects with an Easter theme.

*Just a reminder that Sale-a-bration ends on March 31st, but there's still time to earn FREE products with a $90 minimum purchase or by joining our fabulous Stampin' Up! team. Ask any of the girls on the hop for more details.

Tonight I'm sharing a card and Easter gift box.

Let's start with the card.

My favourite card to make is a 4 1/8" square card and tonight is no exception.
The Fable Friends stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue has proven to be VERY popular, especially the bunny, and so it was an easy choice for the central image on my Easter card.
Fable Friends Stamp Set - Occasions Catalogue

The sentiments is also from the set. I masked off and stamped these two words separately. I used the 'easter' from Easter Greetings and the 'happy' from Happy Spring. It's very easy to mask off what you don't want stamped.
The bunny and sentiments are stamped in Memento black ink.

The line art images make them so easy to colour in with the Stampin' Blends, not to mention FUN!
The colours I used were, Balmy Blue - Light & Dark, Crumb Cake - Light & Dark, and Petal Pink - Dark, for the inside of his ears.
I stamped the bunny twice and fussy cut one of them out to use as a mask. I held this one in place over the other one so that I could sponge the background in Balmy Blue ink and add the grass, using Lemon Lime Twist. I used a blender pen to add some ink straight from my LLT ink pad and then stamped more grass with the grass stamp.
I die-cut the bunny with a stitched oval and stuck this onto a scalloped oval in Whisper White. I used dimensionals to attach the oval to a Subtle embossed panel, and each of the sentiments were die-cut with a stitched rectangle and backed with a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock.
The little flowers are the Gingham Gala sequins, and I added a clear rhinestone to the centres' of them.

Next is the box.

Thanks to our tiny Treat Boxes, it was really simple to put this little gift box together.
I used a piece of the Balmy Blue Gingham Gala 6" x 6" DSP to basically make a little tray to sit the acetate box in. Some glue dots hold this in place.
I die-cut stitched squares from both the DSP and Balmy Blue cardstock for the top of the box. A length of Balmy Blue organdy ribbon, (a Sale-a-bration freebie!), was threaded through a punched hole in the top to form a loop, and the ends were split apart, like you would a split pin, and taped in place. Then I covered this with another stitched square to hide the ends. By adding the ribbon this way, you don't end up with knot-tied ends showing.

I was hoping to add a little chocolate bunny inside the box, but can you believe it, I couldn't find one!
I guess these chocolate eggs will have to do.

Thanks for joining us on our hop tonight, now it's time to head over to the blog of our next team member, the lovely and talented Sue Madex.

AWH Colour Creations - Week 41 - Pumpkin Pie

Hello everyone!
After a couple of weeks away on holiday, I'm back and sharing my project for our Colour Creations blog hop tonight, with the Art with Heart team.

We're up to Week 41 and Pumpkin Pie is our colour this week.

Pumpkin Pie 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper - Regals Collection

I've made another of my square cards that I love so much, and before we left for our holiday, my Stampin' Up! order arrived, and inside was the Painted Seasons DSP, it's a Sale-a-bration FREEBIE! I wanted to use one of the patterns from the pack on my card, and Pumpkin Pie just happened to be one of the colours in this particular design.

The first panel is a piece of Pumpkin Pie that I embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder. On top of this I as added a piece of the DSP, and then I wrapped a length of the Braided Linen Thread around this whole layer and attached it to the Whisper White card base.
Next is the scalloped panel. I cut a square of the Grapefruit Grove Foil (from the Sale-a-bration brochure), and added a stitched circle of the DSP, and layered this onto the scalloped square of Pumpkin Pie. I used dimensionals on the back of the scalloped square and the stitched circle.

I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso and it comes from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.
I used the smallest Rectangle Stitched Framelit to cut it out. You can make almost any size rectangle, simply by cutting first, and then re-aligning the die over the original cut shape to the length you want.

For decoration I used one of the wooden Butterfly Elements and added a small butterfly from the Botanical Butterfly DSP patterns. I chose the Lemon Lime Twist coloured butterfly and added more colour with Stampin' Blends markers. The wooden elements and DSP are items from Sale-a-bration. You still have until March 31st to place a qualifying order to choose FREE Sale-a-bration goodies!

In this photo you can see the wooden butterfly element better.
I made the bow using more of the Braided Linen Thread and some of our regular linen thread, and the little flowers on the sentiment are from the Gingham Gala Sequins in the Occasions Catalogue. I added a clear rhinestone to the centre of them.

P.S. If you scroll back up to the first photo, you may just be able to see that I added a strip of the Painted Seasons DSP to the inside of the card. I used the stitched-scalloped edgelit from the Be Mine Stitched Framelits Dies to cut it out.

AWH Colour Creations - Week 38 - Pool Party

Hello & welcome everyone.

Another week, another Colour Creations blog hop from the Art with Heart team, and another square card from me tonight.

This is Week 38 and our colour is Pool Party.

Pool Party 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper - Subtles Collection

What a lovely, soft and cooling colour Pool Party is. On my card I've combined it with Night of Navy, and one of the great patterns from the Twinkle Twinkle DSP in the Annual Catalogue. I layered the DSP onto a piece of Night of Navy that I ran through the Subtles embossing folder. I had a play around with the Well Said bundle, and that's where the sentiments and the flowers, stems and little bird came from. This is a fantastic bundle, and I'm looking forward to playing with it some more!

I cut out the stitched oval from Whisper White and using the same die and a scalloped oval, I cut out the Pool Party frame. I inset the stitched oval inside the frame and used sticky tape on the back to hold the whole thing together as one piece. Then I just popped it up on dimensionals. I had to trim the stems a little as they were too long, I used Soft Sea Foam for these, with Pool Party flowers. Can you see the sparkle on the flowers? Where would I be without my Wink of Stella?! I added a basic rhinestone to each of the centres. The little birdie is so cute. He has a retired black rhinestone as his eye. My bow is made from the Pool Party shimmer ribbon. Using my dark Night of Navy Stampin' Blend marker, I added dots to each of the scallops around the oval frame.

The word 'best' was stamped in Pool Party and cut out with the smallest Rectangle Stitched Framelits die. It isn't this small really. I cut the whole rectangle out first, and then laid the die back over the shape to cut again creating the smaller rectangle. It aligns pretty well, and you can feel it fall into place fairly easily. The die-cut word 'wishes', comes from the Well Written Framelits Dies.
You really should check this bundle out. It's in the Occasions Catalogue on Page 27.

This is what I did on the inside of the card.

I added a piece of the DSP, then a stitched square for the message. And isn't that a sweet little butterfly?! He's also from the Well Written Framelits.

Well, that's it from me, thanks for stopping by.
