The Heart of Christmas - Week 5

Hi everyone and welcome to Week 5 of The Heart of Christmas.

This week I have taken my design inspiration from the little square card pictured on page 114 of the Annual Catalogue. Grab your copy and have a look. If you don't have a catalogue yet, just get in touch with me and I'll send one out to you.

The 'Oh, What Fun' photopolymer stamp set consists of some lovely Christmas sentiments and I've made 2 cards using the colour combination of Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso - a classic Christmas colour theme.

My first card is a Cherry Cobbler base that I have stamped tone on tone all over with the holly stamp and added some sparkle with Wink of Stella. 'Tis the Season is stamped in Early Espresso, cut out with our Stitched Shapes Square Framelits and matted on to the Layering Square Framelits. I've popped them all up with Dimensionals. I felt the card needed a "little something" more, so I added a Gold Faceted Gem and a little bow made with some retired ribbon from our last Holiday Catalogue.

For my second card I used a Very Vanilla base with a Cherry Cobbler layer, and stamped tone on tone again with the holly stamp. This time I just wrapped a piece of ribbon around the Garden Green square. So quick and easy to put together.

A closer look.
I hope you like these cards as much as I enjoyed making and sharing them with you.
Don't forget to head on over to Claire's blog, our team leader, where you will find a list of my lovely, fellow team members who are sharing their Christmas makes with you this week.

Until next time...

AWH-June Blog Hop-Favourite New Bundle

art-with-heart-team-blog-hop-logo-current

Today the Art with Heart Team girls are showing you their favourite bundles from the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Catalogue. Bundles make creating a breeze, because of the perfect coordination. It's a bonus that you get 10% off by bundling the products together too! There are 28 bundles in the new catalogue so ask us about them or request a copy of the catalogue today!

With so many gorgeous new bundles in the Annual Catalogue, it was really hard for me to pick a favourite, so I went with one that I haven't played with much yet, the Eastern Beauty Bundle. This bundle is part of the Eastern Palace Suite and includes the stamp set and thinlits dies. I admit I have struggled a little bit with ideas on what to make with the products, but after a recent workshop where we made a Chocolate box card, I knew that I wanted to make our eldest son one for his birthday in July and the Eastern Beauty bundle was perfect for this occasion.

The colours and pattern in the DSP I chose to use, combined with the coordinating cardstock of Dapper Denim and Tranquil Tide, make for a very pleasing masculine look. I chose an outline stamp and one of the little filler stamps to decorate the front of the card and cut out with the matching die. I used Happy Birthday from the 'Tabs for Everything' stamp set.

Both the front and inside sentiments are heat embossed in Gold Emboss Powder and I've layered them onto our square Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Close up of inside sentiment. I think the square stitched shapes have a leather look to them.

This is a card with a little something extra. Great for giving to those friends and family members who say, "I don't want anything for my birthday"! Just find out what their favourite chocolate is and pop it inside for a lovely surprise. For our son, we might even put some money in it as well - if he's a good boy between now and his birthday 😉 (He'll be 29!). I'm really happy that I finally found a reason to use the products in this lovely bundle and I can see it fast becoming a definite favourite.

Thanks for stopping by on your way through our blog hop, Kate's blog is next in line. I'm excited to see what she has created, because I'm sure it will be just gorgeous!

The Heart of Christmas - Week 4

Welcome to week 4 of sharing some Christmas inspiration with you, from members of the Art with Heart Team.

Yes it really is week 4 already - be careful not to blink! 😉

My card this week is simple in design but has a lot of Christmas sparkle.

I just love the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and coordinating punch, it is so cute!

I've made a Crumb Cake base and layered with Whisper White and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. If you l-o-v-e your glimmer paper and can't see yourself using such a big piece, I'm sure this card would look just as gorgeous with some DSP instead. The card size is 12" x 4-1/4" and scored in half @ 6". I stamped the reindeer in Early Espresso onto Crumb Cake and just the nose section onto Real Red and fussy cut it out for my Rudolph.

I made the little Christmas bouquet using the Pretty Pines Thinlits dies and tied together with a piece of Linen Thread and attached to the card with a Glue Dot. I've added even more sparkle to the antlers with Wink of Stella.

Inside the card, I stamped - "Have yourself a Merry Christmas". The sentiment has the word 'beary' in it but I just masked that off and centred the wording when stamping.
Because it's a photopolymer stamp it was easy to line up. I really enjoyed making this fun card and I love the result.

Be sure to check out Claire's blog to see who else has created some Christmas inspiration for you this week.

Until next time...

The Heart of Christmas - Week 3

Welcome to Week 3 of sharing some Christmas Inspiration with you, from members of the Art with Heart team.

For my cards this week, I have used the beautiful 'Star of Light' stamp set and coordinating dies.

This is such a sweet little card and can be mass produced. To help with the speed of putting these together, I have used our Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes. The cards are a great size and come pre-scored - bonus! They are also now available in Very Vanilla.

I have made them in Real Red and a combination of Soft Suede with Crumb Cake. Our Glimmer Paper adds sparkle to the star and I have glued these to the solid die - cut in vellum for a bit of stability. I have placed a Rhinestone in the centres too. A Stitched Shaped Circle backed with a Layering Circle has been popped up with Dimensionals to give the focal image a lift.

I absolutely love this little card and I hope you're feeling inspired to start some Christmas crafting soon.

Until next time...

Daisy Crazy!

Yep, I confess! I'm daisy obsessed. The Delightful Daisy Suite in Stampin' Up!'s new catalogue is simply that...d-e-l-i-g-h-t-f-u-l.  Pages 126 & 127 are a daisy lovers dream. If you don't already have a copy of the catalogue, please do not hesitate to ask me for one. I will send one out to you as quick as Australia Post will allow!

So, today I want to show you all, a gift I made for a friend who just happens to share my birth date. We are one year apart in age, she's older (hehe). And not only do we share the same birthday, her name is the shortened version of mine - Carol.  I simply could not go past using the Daisy Delight stamp set and punch to create her present.

I really love the white-on-white of daisies and frame, with just a hint of colour in the centres, leaves and sentiment, which was heat embossed using our Copper Emboss Powder. 'Just for you...because you're so nice' is from a retired stamp set.  I have used all of our gorgeous new In-Colours.

The matching card is very simple in design, and I felt the Powder Pink complimented the copper embossing in the frames sentiment beautifully. The Happy Birthday stamp is from 'Happy Birthday Gorgeous' on page 77 of the catalogue. The sentiment inside the card reads - It's Your Day - also from the same set.

This daisy suite is so versatile and I can see it being used a lot in my card designs etc...
This project was such fun to make and I'm looking forward to gifting it to my friend.

Until next time...

The Heart of Christmas - Week 2

Hi everyone, I hope you're enjoying your day. I cannot believe we are almost half way through the year! It has gone something like this...January, February, March, BLINK, June! And before we know it, July, BLINK-Christmas! So it seems that there is no time like the present to get started on making our cards.

Our lovely team leader at Art with Heart, Claire Daly, invited our members to join her in creating and posting some Christmas inspiration, weekly, between now and the end of November. What a great incentive to get those Christmas cards made and stashed away ready for posting. Family and friends will be so impressed at how organized we are! So grab that cuppa, put your feet up and enjoy viewing all of the wonderful creations our team members are sharing with you.
Click on Claire's name above to see who else has joined in, for this weeks inspiration.

For my card, I have combined the gorgeous Lemon Lime Twist with the equally gorgeous Berry Burst.  Just two of our fabulous 2017-2019 In Colours.

I just love how well these colours work together and it gives a fresh new look to the card as I've stepped away from the traditional red and green. I have used the Christmas Stockings Thinlits dies for the main image and then stamped the Merry Christmas sentiment from the matching Hang Your Stocking stamp set onto Whisper White Cardstock and using our Layering Circle Framelits dies to cut out a circle and scalloped backing circle in Berry Burst. I punched 2 Classic Labels and just overlapped them slightly to create the elongated look. I have applied dimensionals to the stocking and sentiment for a little lift.

The sentiment inside reads - Wishing you a season filled with love and happiness.

The solid stocking was cut from Lemon Lime Twist and the filigree layer from Berry Burst. And don't throw away those tiny swirly pieces, they are perfect to add as little accents.
The cuff, heel and toe were cut from our Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and I've added the smallest of our Glitter Enamel Dots in the palest shade of Berry Burst just under the sentiment.

I really enjoyed making this card, I think it's fun, bright and cheerful!

Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to check out the other team members creations as we share with you the Heart of Christmas.

Until next time...
