Hi friends, if you follow my blog you would have seen the card I made for our Art with Heart team's weekly Colour Creations blog hop on Tuesday night.
I made the card for my sister-in-law's birthday using Blushing Bride, our featured colour for the hop, and Petal Promenade.
Here's a little reminder.
I wanted to make a matching gift bag to hold the chocolates I had bought for her. I had a few ideas rolling around in my head as to the sort of bag I wanted to make and then I remembered my much neglected Gift Bag Punch Board. In fact I even had a quick check of the catalogue to see if it was still available - thankfully it is!
I trimmed an A4 piece of Blushing Bride cardstock to 11" x 8 1/4" and followed the instructions on the punch board to make a medium sized bag. Once the bag was glued together I added panels of the Petal Promenade DSP to the front and back. I used the 1 3/4" circle punch to cut a half circle on the front and back of the bag for the handles which were made using both the 1 3/4" and 2 1/2" circle punches. *(The 2 1/2" circle punch is retired, but you could use your layering circle framelits to make the handles).
I used the 1 3/4" punch and a circle framelit for the tag and stamped the sentiment in Memento ink from the 'Itty Bitty Greetings' stamp set, it's attached to the bag with dimensionals.
The Gift Bag Punch Board allows you to create a multitude of bag sizes and there are lots of video tutorials on YouTube as well as different closures for the top too! It's a versatile little craft tool and makes it really easy to create a professional looking gift bag. You can use cardstock or DSP and decorate to your hearts content.
Oh so pretty.
Can you spot the difference on my card from the original photo at the top?
I ended up stamping another butterfly but this time I stamped onto some vellum and cut this out using the matching framelit. I ran a tiny amount of Tombow glue along the body of the butterfly and stuck this on top of the cardstock one. This allowed me to give more dimension to the wings.
Well it's time for me to grab some breakfast and decide what I'm going to do for the day.
Housework or time in my craftroom?
I wonder which one I'll choose.......😉

I know that Linda Parker of Papercraft With Crafty had a video tutorial on YouTube for a bag made without the punchboard and using this style of handle. If that doesn't help you, send me an email and I'll see if I can give measurements and instructions that way.
