Hello and welcome everyone.
It's Week 31 of the Colour Creations Showcase from the Art with Heart team.
Tonight, our featured colour is Old Olive from the Regals Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.
I decided to try a technique that I have wanted to try for a while. It's called the Split Negative Technique. It was fun to make and I love the result.
Here's my card.
I was inspired to use this lovely line-art stamp from the Painted Poppies stamp set, after watching a video on the Split Negative Technique by Australian demonstrator Gail Ellis.
The technique is very simple, and what's great about it is that you end up with four pieces to make two cards - they'll just be opposites. The Old Olive piece was embossed in white and the white piece was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The two panels were then cut in half lengthways and the opposites glued together.
I backed my split panel with a piece of silver foil just slightly larger to show a narrow border. I wanted some subtle texture behind this main focal piece so I embossed white card stock with the new Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder from the Jan-June Mini Catalogue. I think this embossing folder might become a firm second favourite.
The decorative border is made from an Ornate Borders die, and I've stamped leaves from the Painted Poppies stamp set in Old Olive classic ink just for some added interest. I loved using the white crinkle ribbon for my bow. The crinkles seem to reflect the texture from the embossing folder.
Inside the card I added a white writing panel backed with a slightly larger piece of Old Olive card stock, and another poppy stamped in Old Olive.
The sentiment is also a new one from the Mini Catalogue. The stamp set is called Many Messages. It's one large stamp and coordinates with the Messages Die which cuts out each sentiment individually with just one pass through your die-cutting machine. If you want both of these products, remember to purchase as a bundle, that way you'll save 10%.
Well, that's it from me tonight everyone. Thanks for stopping by.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the team's Old Olive projects. Our lovely hostess Catherine, has a list of all tonight's participants on her blog.

See you all again soon. Stay safe and well.
