AWH Team - Colour Creations Week 47 - Smoky Slate

Hello and welcome everyone.

It's Week 47 of the Colour Creations Showcase from the Art With Heart team.
Tonight, members of the team will be sharing projects featuring Smoky Slate. Smoky Slate is a member of the Neutrals Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.

Sadly, it's a fact of life - we all need to send these type of cards throughout our lifetime. I have no recipient intended for this one, but I do like to have them on hand for when one is needed.

Whenever I do make this type of card I like to keep the colours soft, neutral and subtle, and Smoky Slate is usually my "go to" colour.

When it came to photographing this card for the blog post, it was an overcast day and even as I type, the rain is falling and thunder is rumbling outside. So for the purpose of showing a truer grey colour, I set up my recently purchased photo shot box.
I'm not sure it reflects the real colour of Smoky Slate, but it's better than the dull images I was getting with just my overhead lighting in the craft room.

You should be able to see the touch of sparkle I added to the petals of the peony rose in the photo above. I traced the outline edge of each one using the Wink of Stella brush pen.
It was the perfect touch of shimmer I was looking for. The beautiful image of the full rose and rosebud is from the Prized Peony stamp set and stamped in Smoky Slate classic ink.

Here's what I did on the inside of the card. Just some simple layering of Smoky Slate and Basic White card stock to create the matting, and more stamped images from the Prized Peony stamp set.

I have a layer of vellum that I glued straight onto the card front with Multipurpose liquid glue. I used the method where you sponge on a small amount of the glue rather than run a line of it all over. This way you don't see the glue at all. The matted layer is attached with dimensionals.

Using our Blending Brushes I added colour below the rose from the Smoky Slate classic ink pad. There are some lovely sentiments in the Prized Peony stamp set but I wanted a one line sentiment and I found that in the Art Gallery stamp set. I've embossed this in silver embossing powder.

I'll have a list of all the products I've used on my card at the end of this blog post.

Well, that's it from me tonight everyone. Thanks for stopping by.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the team's Smoky Slate projects.

Our lovely hostess Catherine will have a list of tonight's participants over on her blog.

Stay safe and well. See you all again soon.
