Colour Creations Week 43 - Smoky Slate

Hello everyone and welcome to Week 43 of the Colour Creations blog hop from the Art with Heart Team.

Our spotlight colour this week is Smoky Slate - a member of the Neutrals Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.

My card tonight is a CASE'd card from a CASE'd card!
Sarah Klass, a Western Australian demonstrator, was inspired to CASE a card she'd seen by Laura Bassen.
(@sarahklassˍcreates) and (@laurafadora)

Here is my interpretation of their cards.

Both Laura and Sarah's cards were made using brightly coloured circles, but I decided to use Smoky Slate and Basic Black for a really dramatic look using this fantastic geometric design. It makes a great masculine card!

Sarah mentioned in her Facebook post, which is where I originally saw the card, that she thought there was a square layer of vellum over the top of the coloured squares. At first glance it really does look like vellum. Do you agree?

The circles were cut using one of the Layering Circles dies. I cut 8 basic black circles and 3 from smoky slate, two of these were cut in half and the last one was cut into quarters using the Paper Trimmer. They were added to the black circles with dimensionals. I think the effect looks amazing!

The sentiment is from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set which retires with the end of the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue. It was stamped onto Smoky Slate card stock with Memento Tuxedo black ink and trimmed around the black border edge.  This was a really simple, quick and fun design to recreate.

There are store links to each of the Stampin' Up! products I used to create my card below.

That's it from me tonight everyone, thanks so much for stopping by. It's time to hop to the next blog to see another Smoky Slate project.

Theresa Gerrard, is our next creative and talented team member to share her creation with us.

As always our lovely host, Catherine Proctor, will have the list of all tonight's participants over on her blog.

Stay safe and well. See you all again next time. 🌻
