Hello everyone and welcome to Week 11 of the Heart of Christmas blog hop from members of the Art with Heart Team.
Once again I've designed my card around this beautiful pattern from the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper and matted it with a slightly larger piece of gold foil for a touch of elegance.
The soft muted colours are so pretty, and I tried to echo them in my water coloured foliage but I just couldn't quite get the colour I was going for. I do however love the blue berries.
You'll find the foliage in the Timeless Arrangements Dies.
The 'Merry Christmas' sentiment is from the Brightest Glow stamp set and I heat embossed it in gold onto Basic White card stock. Before embossing I used a Blending Brush and my Misty Moonlight ink pad to colour it. It's not as deep as I wanted but I think the gold embossing "pops" more on the lighter colour.
The sentiment and gold foil mat were cropped with a Deckled Rectangles die.
Here's a tip I saw another demonstrator show but I just can't remember who it was now. Anyway, she showed how to customize the deckled rectangles to the size you want for your project. Cut your rectangle first and then reposition the die and run it through the die cutting machine again to get the required size.
It's such a useful and clever tip!
I hand coloured the gems to match the colours in the DSP. It's really easy to do this by using Stampin' Blends markers. A length of the gold trim from Online Exclusives was wrapped around the matted layer and then a separate double bow was added as a finishing touch.
The Stampin' Up! products I used to make my card will be listed below.

ReplyDeleteYour gorgeous slimline card is indeed so elegant card, Caroline, with the touches of gold and subtle watercolouring to pick up the colours in the Winter Meadow Designer Series Paper. Love the bow too!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful arrangement of foliage that still looks great with that stunning DSP (even though colours not exactly as you wanted). This DSP seems to work beautifully with either gold or silver touches. A great tip on customising the Deckled Rectangle sizes.
