AWH Colour Creations - Week 42 - Real Red

Hi everyone.
We're up to Week 42 of the Art with Heart Colour Creations blog hop. Our colour tonight is Real Red. A classic red from our Regals Collection.

Real Red 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper - Regals Collection

For tonight's hop, I'm sharing a thank you card.

I just wanted a really simple design and to let the gorgeous, vibrant red be the star of the show, as it should be. I think I achieved that look.

I've made a tent fold card base of Whisper White and I inked up the Buffalo Check background stamp with Real Red ink and stamped onto some Whisper White cardstock, then die cut a panel of it with a rectangle stitched framelit. I added this to a panel of whisper white and silver foil, and popped this whole piece up with dimensionals. Then I stamped the large daisy from the Daisy Delight stamp set onto real red cardstock twice with real red ink, and punched out with the Daisy Punch. I brushed on some sparkle with the Wink of Stella pen and added a faceted gem to the centre. It's also attached with dimensionals, and the same for the sentiment.

The sentiment is heat embossed in black and die cut with another of the rectangle stitched framelits. Originally I had stamped directly onto the card base but the ink smudged. I like this look better - so a happy mistake really. The sentiment is from Beautiful Bouquet.
In this photo you can see that I embossed horizontal lines on the top and bottom. There's three along the top and four along the bottom. I did this by using the Simply Scored scoring tool before adding all the elements. Three red rhinestones finish of the details and balance the card nicely I think.

Inside the card I added a stitched rectangle of the buffalo check that I had left over and another stitched rectangle in Whisper White for the writing panel.

Thanks for stopping by. Head over to Catherine's blog to see the rest of tonight's Real Red creations from the team.

Think Pink - AWH Team - October Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to our October blog hop!

Tonight the Art with Heart team are sharing projects featuring the colour pink.
We hope our blog hop inspires you to get creative using the various shades of pink that Stampin' Up! offer in our collection of 53 different colours.
With that many colours, there's something to suit everyone's colour cravings, but tonight it's all about our pinks!

Lets get started.

I'm sharing two cards tonight and both feature Powder Pink, which is one of our 2017-2019 In Colours.

On my first card I spritzed the front of the card base and daisy with some Isocol and Frost White Shimmer Paint, it adds such a soft and pretty sparkle. I embossed the Whisper White layer with the Subtle TIEF and backed it with a piece of silver foil. The daisy from the Daisy Delight stamp set was stamped twice in Powder Pink and punched out with the Daisy Punch. The darker pink centre was sponged in Melon Mambo. I added it to the stitched square with dimensionals. I punched out two leaf sprigs from silver foil with the Leaf Punch and just ran a bit of Tombow glue to the lower end behind each stem and stuck them under the flower.
The sentiment is heat embossed in silver and punched out with the Classic Label Punch. By re-inserting the label back into the punch you can make it smaller and I also trimmed the top and bottom of it with my paper snips, then I backed this with another one in pink, but I used it full size.

The other embellishments I've used are, some silver metallic thread, artisan pearls and a clear faceted gem for the flower centre.
The DSP I've used on both cards is the 2017-2019 In-Colour 6" x 6" paper stack.

Onto the second card.

Similar layout to my first card except on this card I used the smallest stitched square framelit x four and a melon mambo daisy. Again, I spritzed the flower - see the close up photo below.

This time the sentiment is embossed with copper embossing powder, this really brings out the pretty pink tones in it.

I added just a single faceted gem for a bit more sparkle, but that was all the embellishing I felt this card needed.

Here's a photo of both cards together.

I can't wait to see the rest of the teams' pink creations.

Thanks for joining us on our hop tonight. If you're already hopping then you may have come to me from the blog of our lovely and talented Catherine Proctor, but hops are full circles so you can start anywhere and just click the 'next blog' button at the end of each blog post to get back to where you started.

Following on from me now is the equally lovely and talented Rachel Palmieri.

If you find a broken link or have come to this blog hop from a different entry point, below is a list of tonight's participants.

Sweet Soiree Tissue Box Cover

Hello friends and welcome to today's blog post.

The project I'm sharing with you all today is a cover for a small box of tissues, and I simply could not go past using the absolutely beautiful DSP from the Sweet Soiree Suite of products in our Occasions Catalogue.

Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper

Stampin' Up! have truly outdone themselves with this years catalogue, it really has something for everyone, including an amazing suite for the men in our lives. So, if you don't have a copy of the catalogue and would love to have a browse through one, just send me an email with your request and I'll pop one in the post for you.

Now, onto the project!

I found the design for this cover on Pinterest, however I can't give credit to anyone in particular as there were just so many pins all with the same idea.
Isn't this pattern on the DSP gorgeous?! I think it's my favourite, but they're all so gorgeous it's hard to pick just one!

Here is a photo without the tissues to show the pretty scalloped circle frame around the opening.
It was made with our Layering Circle Framelits, using both a scalloped and regular circle. The basic box cover is made with our thick Whisper White cardstock.

Another cover made with a different pattern from the Sweet Soiree DSP and here I have added a white daisy using our Daisy Punch. I also punched a small circle from Old Olive cardstock for the centre of the flower and added a clear Faceted Gem, then just a touch of Wink of Stella to the flower tips.
This was my February class project and we made a matching card with the cut-out circle from the box. I'll share a photo of the card in another post. This is a nice, practical little gift and the ladies that attended class really enjoyed making their cover and matching card.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you may have gotten some inspiration from the project.

Now there's no excuse not to pretty up a boring box of tissues, so go and make a cover today!

Here are my measurements:-

  • Base:  2 pieces of cardstock that measure 5" x 9 1/4" and score @ 1/2" & 4 3/4" on both pieces along the 9 1/4" side.
  • Lid:  1 piece of cardstock that measures 6 5/16" x 6 9/16" and score @ 1" on all four sides.
  • DSP:  For the base you will need - 2 pieces 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" & 2 pieces 3 3/4" x 4".
  • DSP:  For the lid you will need - 1 piece that measures 4 1/4" x 4" (this is for the top), 2 pieces that measure 3/4" x 4 1/4" (side) and 2 pieces that measure 3/4" x 4" (side).
You should have an 1/8" border from the edge of the DSP on the top and all sides of the box. I strongly suggest you dry fit before gluing. As a tip, I would glue all of the DSP to the lid first. See the photos for placement.

*Glue the DSP to the top of your lid before running it through the Big Shot. Also you will need to fold under one of the flaps on the shorter side of the lid to fit it through the Big Shot. It will leave a slight impression from the circle framelit, but it will be on the underside when the lid is glued together and it won't be noticeable.

I have a list of all the products I used for this project below.

Until next time.....
