Heart of Christmas - Week 2


Hello everyone and welcome to Week 2 of our Heart of Christmas by the Art with Heart team.

When I was making last week's Heart of Christmas card using the Dashing Deer stamp set, I stamped and embossed two deer's, to see which one I preferred on that card. I decided to use the left over one to create tonight's card, and here it is.


I heat embossed gold onto gold foil for the deer. I added him with glue dots, it adds a little dimension, to a small card from the Magnolia Lane Memories & More card pack that I cropped with a rectangle stitched die. I then backed this with a piece of Whisper White that I ran through the Subtle 3D embossing folder.


I made a frame using two of the rectangle stitched dies and added this using the leftover strips of dimensionals. These strips can be cut to size, so never throw that sheet out once you have used up the individual dimensionals - they are so handy.

I heat embossed the sentiment with gold onto Garden Green cardstock. The sentiment is on one stamp, but after stamping, I just trimmed it down so I could get the two pieces that you see on the card. I die-cut three of the flowers from the Detailed Deer dies in Garden Green and to each of the centres I added a clear rhinestone that I coloured with my Stampin' Blends in dark So Saffron. Now they look like gold rhinestones!


On the inside of the card I matted a piece of Whisper White onto Garden Green cardstock. In the Memories & More card pack from Magnolia Lane is a selection of stickers, so I chose one of the border ones and a flourish die-cut from the Detailed Deer dies to decorate the bottom of the panel. I punched out a really tiny circle of gold foil for the centre of the flower using a retired hand held punch.

Coloured in Images - AWH Team - August Blog Hop


Hello stamping friends, welcome to tonight's monthly blog hop from the Art with Heart team.
Tonight the team are sharing projects that feature stamp sets you can colour in.
 We hope this blog hop inspires you to pick up some Stampin' Write markers, Stampin' Blends, our watercolour pencils or another form of colouring medium and colour in your stamped images.

For my colouring in project I chose to use the beautiful 'Painted Glass' stamp set. This set has coordinating thinlit dies and you'll save 10% if you purchase as a bundle. I confess that this set did not jump out at me to start with, but after seeing so many wonderful projects made with it, I decided to buy it and I'm so pleased I did.

I stamped the circle medallion three times in Versamark onto thick Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed with our black embossing powder. I knew that I wanted a blue & white theme and that each image would have different sections coloured in so I grabbed my light and dark Night of Navy and light Pool Party Stampin' Blends markers and started colouring in. I didn't blend I just coloured, and the centre circle is the only one that has Pool Party in it. I really love the result and I could have kept colouring in as it was so much fun! It's given me some great ideas for future projects using the same image but in different colours. Watch this space!


The medallions were die-cut with a layering circle framelit and popped up on dimensionals onto the Night of Navy panel. To accommodate the three circles I had to make my card 8" x 4 1/8" so I'll make a custom envelope to fit. I didn't add a sentiment as I'm not sure who or for what occasion I'll give it yet. I do think though, that it will suit either male or female and that I'll probably choose a sentiment from 'Itty Bitty Greetings' as there are so many different sentiments for all occasions included in that set. I added a black rhinestone to the centre of each medallion, these particular rhinestones are a retired product, but you could use your markers to colour our clear rhinestones.
That's just another reason to try colouring in. It's not just ink on paper. You can even colour Stampin' Up! ribbon!
I really hope you have a go at colouring in as it's a lovely way to relax and relieve stress - unless you accidentally colour outside the lines - only kidding.....

AWH Team - March Blog Hop - Happy Easter!


Hello friends and welcome.
Tonight the Art With Heart Team are sharing their creative Easter projects with you all.

I have had this idea in my head for a while now, and thought that this was the perfect time to see how it would look in real life.

Here is my little explosion Easter egg box. It's simple to make and turned out really cute I think!


The base of the box is Very Vanilla and the reinforced lid is made using one of the patterns from the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP. Around the base of the box, I stamped the dotty image from 'Petal Palette' stamp set in Blushing Bride to coordinate with the DSP. The dots make me think of bunny paw prints! The greeting is from 'Sweet Little Something' and is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum for some depth of colour. The stamp is a one line stamp, but I just inked each word separately and stamped one under the other. It is cut with a Stitched Shape circle, I then layered it onto a punched circle and Scalloped Layering Circle Framelit.


Remove the lid and inside is one of our Tiny Treat Boxes filled with mini Easter eggs and some of the Ready Shreddie from the Occasions Catalogue! I added some more of the DSP to each panel.


I thought the recipient might like to reuse the treat box, so I didn't glue it down. Instead it just sits inside and when you lift it out, it reveals this cute little bunny from the 'A Good Day' stamp set. I stamped it in Memento ink and coloured with our Stampin' Blends.

To go with the box, I made this matching 3" x 3" gift card.


It combines punch art and die-cutting to create the sweet bunny. 
I have used Stitched Shapes and Layering Ovals for her ears, a stitched circle for her face, the 1/2" circle punch for the cheeks and the Cookie Cutter Builder punch for her eyes, nose and mouth. I added a Glitter Enamel Dot to the nose and she's wearing a pretty pink bow made from the mini Tinsel Trim. I brushed on some Wink of Stella to the VV part of her ears for some extra sparkle!
The card front has been embossed with the Polka Dot Basics TIEF.

The DSP has Soft Sky in it so I had to make one in blue as well!


For a boy bunny, he had to have a gold bow-tie!

A little birdie told me.....


Hi friends and welcome to today's blog post.

 I wanted to share with you all a birthday card I made using the 'Bird Banter' photopolymer stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue.
I have to confess that this set didn't really WOW me at first, but I absolutely LOVE this card, and now I LOVE the stamp set too!


I was searching Google images for ideas on how to colour the birds in the set, when I stumbled across this cute design layout. I've used Pool Party and Pink Pirouette on a Whisper White card base and I think these colours are so soft and pretty together. I stamped tone on tone on the three narrow strips behind the focal image using the leaf stamp and then also stamped onto the Pink Pirouette layer with Crumb Cake. I coloured the cockatoo with our Stampin' Blends, and I wanted the colours to represent our Australian galah and I'm very pleased with the results. Both the bird and greeting are stamped with the Memento black ink, which is recommended if you're colouring with the Stampin' Blends.


I coloured the Clear Epoxy Shapes with the dark Pink Pirouette Stampin' Blends marker just to add a touch of colour and I gave the bird a lovely shimmer using the Wink of Stella pen. You can really see the lovely soft sparkle on the bird in this close-up shot.  As there aren't any coordinating dies with this stamp set, I simply fussy-cut it out. Just take your time - using our paper snips makes fussy-cutting a breeze! I made a double bow out of the Silver Baker's Twine and added an Enamel Shape heart to the centre. 


I've kept the card very simple on the inside with a layer of Whisper White, the stamped sentiment and some washi tape from the Myths & Magic Suite in the Occasions Catalogue.
