Hello and welcome everyone.
It's Week 25 of the Colour Creations Showcase from the Art With Heart team.
Melon Mambo is our featured colour tonight, and it's from the Brights Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.
Here's my card.
I love the way this turned out. It has an almost festive look to it, so that gives me an idea for another card!
The Melon Mambo card base measures 6" x 6" square and I cut the same size in this wood grain pattern from the 'In Good Taste' Designer Series Paper to cover the front.
The sentiment was heat embossed with white embossing powder and it's from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. I really love the white embossing on the wood grain paper, it has such a special look. To help anchor the floral element, I stamped the fern leaf from the Daisy Lane stamp set in Soft Suede classic ink a few times to get some different shading of colour.
The flower is made from stamping and punching both sizes of the daisies in Melon Mambo ink onto Whisper White and Melon Mambo card stock. The daisies are also part of the Daisy Lane stamp set. The flower centre is Soft Suede and was cut out twice with a die from the Magnolia Memory die set. The little touch of bling is a Gilded Gem.
The leaves are Mossy Meadow and Whisper White. The dies used to cut them out are from the Forever Flourishing set. I lost count of how many times I stamped this small butterfly from the Butterfly Gala stamp set. I stamped Melon Mambo tone on tone, then onto Whisper White and then Melon Mambo onto soft suede. I finally decided on the tone on tone, and they're punched out with the Butterfly Duet punch.
The Soft Suede antenna are stamped directly onto the designer paper and then I added the butterflies with a glue dot. I put one glue dot in the centre of each body and then to keep some dimension to the wings, I stuck two glue dots together and added them underneath the wings. This gives a little lift without to much height and they stay that way even after the recipient of the card takes it out of the envelope.
Inside I just added some simple matting for the writing panel.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the team's Melon Mambo projects.
Our lovely hostess Catherine, has a list of all tonight's participants on her blog.

ReplyDeleteI love your inspiration Caroline - your card turned out even better than the wall plaque! I especially love how you've stamped the "Happiest of birthdays" stamp onto the DSP. Thank you for participating in the Colour Creations Showcase tonight.
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous card Caroline, so many lovely elements, you've really thought about it. I hadn't even noticed the Crumb Cake ferns until I read that paragraph - it's a great touch for connecting the flowers to the card.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your card Caroline it is gorgeous and I love that you have stamped on the In good Taste DSP, I almost wish is was a permanent fixture and not a DSP that will retire at the end of the catalogue.
