AWH Team - Colour Creations Week 36 - Poppy Parade

Hello and welcome everyone.

It's Week 36 of the Colour Creations Showcase from the Art With Heart team.
Tonight's featured colour is Poppy Parade from the Bright's Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.

I had already made a card featuring Poppy Parade a few weeks ago, but when an order arrived recently with the gorgeous Berry Delightful Sale-a-bration DSP and the Strawberry Builder Punch in it, I just had to make a card using these two fun products.

Not only does the punch coordinate with the Sweet Strawberry stamp set, and can be purchased as a bundle, but one of the patterns in the Berry Delightful DSP has images that can be punched out, and that's what I've used on my card. The leaves, flowers and the Flirty Flamingo strawberry were all punched out directly from the pattern sheet.

I ended up fussy cutting the two Poppy Parade strawberries, their little green hats, except for the smaller strawberry, and snipped into the flower petals for a bit more definition. I added champagne rhinestones to the flower centres - they were the perfect colour. I also brushed on some Wink of Stella glitter to the strawberries for a touch of shimmer.

You can't see it in the photo unfortunately, but I ended up using the larger end of my stylus and ran it around the underside edge of the strawberries to add some dimension. It sort of puffs them up a bit. Underneath them I added pieces of foam adhesive. The flowers were stuck down with glue dots.

How cute is that ladybug!

The checked frame was made using two stitched rectangle dies and I've popped it up with foam adhesive. The design has a real country look to it, so I thought that the sentiment from the Butterfly Wishes stamp set would look great stamped on a woodgrain sign. The sentiment and butterfly are stamped in Early Espresso ink.

I really like to keep the inside of my cards quite simple, especially when using white card stock. Here, I've just added a strip of the checked DSP that I cut with the scalloped stitched edge die from the the Stitched Be Mine set.

Well, that's it from me tonight everyone. Thanks for stopping by.
You'll find a full list of all the products I've used on my card at the end of this blog post.

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the team's Poppy Parade projects. Our lovely hostess Catherine, will have a list of tonight's participants over on her blog.

See you all again soon. Stay safe and well.

  3. The paper is so beautiful, isn't it! How well you have showcased Poppy Parade with this gorgeous card - I just love the way you have used the papers - and it reminds me that tomorrow I get to go over to our "patch" and pick what's left of my strawberries after 5 days of lockdown.

  5. A beautiful card Caroline. There's something about gingham that makes me think of country, so it pairs beautifully with the strawberries. Lots of lovely accents.
