Colour Creations Week 31 - Night of Navy

Hello and welcome to Week 31 of the Colour Creations blog hop from the Art with Heart Team.

Tonight's spotlight colour is Night of Navy, a member of the Neutrals Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.

I really struggled to come up with a card design for tonight's blog hop so I turned to Pinterest for inspiration. It didn't take long before I found a card that I thought I'd like to CASE. The original design is by Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Angie McKenzie. On her card, Angie chose to stamp in blues and greens. You can see her card here.

On my card I've gone for a vibrant rainbow effect.

On the Night of Navy card base front is a thick Basic White layer that is embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder. The bottom edge is cut with the large scalloped edge die from the Scalloped Contours Dies. This die set coordinates with the Colour & Contour stamp set that can be purchased as a bundle with a saving of 10%.

Each flower is stamped in first generation ink for the outline and stamped off for the fill in stamping. The colours are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, Calypso Coral, Night of Navy, Garden Green and Bermuda Bay. A beautiful rainbow of Stampin' Up! colours.
A combination of dimensionals, glue dots and multipurpose glue were used to stick them down. The sentiment is new, and it's from the Flowing Flowers stamp set that you'll find on page 36 of the Jan-June 2022 Mini Catalogue. It has been heat embossed in white onto a strip of Night of Navy with each end being cut on an angle for visual interest. It really stands out and I absolutely love white heat embossing on dark card stock.

On the inside the Basic White panel is repeated, without the embossing, and I've stamped the flower in Night of Navy.

A length of the white glittered organdy ribbon was cut down the middle to create the narrower width and the two pieces were adhered under the sentiment. I love the sparkle on this ribbon. Three basic clear rhinestones are attached to the sentiment.

See below for a list of the Stampin' Up! products I used to create my card.

Now it's time to go see the rest of the team's Night of Navy projects. Our next talented and creative team member is, Theresa Gerrard

As always our lovely host, Catherine Proctor, will have the list of all tonight's participants on her blog.

Stay safe and well, see you all again soon.

  1. What a wonderful rainbow of flowers, Caroline. This design really shows how well Night of Navy works just as well as a background neutral for any colour as it does as a feature colour.
