Heart of Christmas - Week 16

Hi everyone, welcome to Week 16 of the Heart of Christmas blog hop from members of the Art with Heart Team.

I finally received my Deckled Circle Dies!

I could hardly restrain myself from using them straight away, but after a few days of waiting I eventually got some play time.

I also had my first play with the gorgeous Sparkling Snowflakes stamp set. The snowflake images are so beautiful. There are three solid and three detailed snowflakes in the set, as well as four sentiments.

Sparkling Snowflakes

I started my card by choosing the fourth largest circle die from the largest in the set. I cut the card base from a folded piece of thick basic white card stock trimming a very small section from the bottom so it could stand. I wanted to create a crescent moon shape to stamp my snowflakes on, so I cut a smaller circle from our masking paper and used a blending brush to add the initial Bubble Bath colour.

After removing the masking paper I could then blend the colour a little more into the centre of the card to help soften the edge left from the masking paper. Then it was just a matter of stamping the detailed snowflakes in first and second generation ink in the colours of Berry Burst, Bubble Bath, and a little hint of Fresh Freesia. I also stamped smaller images from the Beautiful Balloons and Sending Cheer stamp sets.

 Now, this step is not recommended, but I did cut my sentiment to make it easier for me to stamp the words where I wanted them. I did try masking, but it just wasn't working. So once again, this is not recommended but I did feel confident in my cutting which is why I went ahead with it.

On the inside I added another die cut circle and using the leftover ink on my blending brush I blended colour around the edges.

The back of the card got treated to a bit of blending and stamping too, just to carry the theme throughout the entire card.

I cut a length of the Silver & White sheer ribbon and trimmed away the silver edge which then frayed into single strands - so pretty! My bows are made up of both the silver strands and the sheer ribbon, and another bow using the ribbon as a whole.

A sparkly basic rhinestone was used for the centre of the large snowflake and then a scattering of pink blooming pearls were added to finish off this very pretty look.
