AWH Team - Colour Creations Week 8 - Calypso Coral

Hello everyone!

We are up to Week 8 in our Colour Creations Showcase.

Tonight's featured colour is Calypso Coral from the Subtles Collection.
I guess the best way to describe this colour is really in its name. I would say it's a coral pinky, orange - let's go with that.

I always find that if I'm participating in a colour challenge and I have to work with a colour I usually don't use, I try to use just a small amount of it on my project. I think it works best for me this way.

Tonight I have paired Calypso Coral and Old Olive on my card base of Whisper White.

And, here is my card.

I'm enjoying creating these clean and simple designs. A little bit of colour can go a long way when used with Whisper White and really focuses on the colour itself, I believe.

I've used the Butterfly Wishes stamp set for the images and sentiment. I love it when I can make a card using just one stamp set - so easy.

Butterfly Wishes

Butterfly Wishes is a 'Distinktive' style stamp set.
Dist-ink-tive stamps have a special texture to the images that when stamped you get depth and dimension with them. An almost photo realistic image.

On my card I used the butterfly that coordinates with the Butterfly Duet Punch, and the single flower and leaf.

The butterfly was stamped 'tone on tone' in Calypso Coral. I added some sparkle from the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for a bit of 'pop'!

I stamped two butterflies actually. The bottom one is glued flat to the subtle embossed stitched panel and the top butterfly is glued down the centre directly over the top. To keep the wings risen, I trimmed the outer edge of a Stampin' Dimensional to a really narrow piece and added that underneath each of the wings and very close to the centre of the body. The bottom butterfly was stamped in second generation Calypso Coral ink.

I coloured three basic pearls with my dark Calypso Coral Stampin' Blend marker.
As always, I have a product list at the end of my post that shows all of the Stampin' Up! products I use on my cards and projects.

I've used the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder on two of the panels to give more dimension to my card.

In hindsight, I should have stamped a single Old Olive leaf near the top right flower to draw the eye up. Oh well, I'll do that on the next card I make in this design.

Well that's it from me tonight.

It's time to hop over to Catherine's blog to see more Calypso Coral creations from the AWH Team.
