AWH Team - August Creative Showcase - Rainbow theme

Hello & welcome everyone.

With all that's happening worldwide at the moment, the Art with Heart Team are here to brighten your thoughts with our Rainbow inspired projects.

The natural beauty of a rainbow is unsurpassed.
We hope you enjoy our colourful creations.

Card 1.

As soon as I read the theme for this month's Creative Showcase, the Rainbow song I remembered from childhood popped into my head. I think it went something like this.
Red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue, I can sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow, sing a rainbow too.
Are you singing it? I bet you are. 😉
And now you're smiling too - right!

My Rectangle Stitched Dies certainly got a workout on this card and my second one. I cut my card base to measure 5 1/2" long, when folded, so that the largest of the rectangles would fit nicely with an even border all around.
I couldn't resist using some of the gorgeous sparkly new Glimmer Paper from the August-December Mini Catalogue.
I thought the Balmy Blue would go beautifully with the rainbow of colours.

I have used the largest of the sentiments from the Happiest Of Birthdays stamp set. (AC pg.103)
Each of the words were coloured with a very old retired set of Stampin' Write markers, but I used only current colours. There is Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Pacific Point, Bermuda Bay and Rich Razzleberry. In this technique, you colour the stamp with the marker and before you stamp onto the cardstock, you "huff" a breath to re-moisten the ink and then stamp. After stamping I cropped each word with a stitched rectangle die. I glued the larger words straight onto the embossed Whisper White panel and then used dimensionals on the smaller words. I also used dimensionals to pop up the entire panel on top of the glimmer paper.

Adding colour to the basic rhinestones is easy with Stampin' Blends. This way you can colour them to match the colours on your card. A little tip - let them dry a while before adding them to your project.

Inside the card I added a stitched rectangle writing panel and using the same colours from the front of the card, I stamped a rainbow of stars from the Family Party stamp set.

Card 2.

A 'thank you' card in rainbow colours. This time I've used ink pad colours from the Bright's Collection. Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape, Mango Melody and Pacific Point. The sentiment and flower are from the Free As A Bird stamp set.

To prove that I own more than just the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder 😉, I embossed the side of the Night of Navy cardstock with the leaf design from the Greenery Embossing Folders. There are 2 in the pack. (AC pg.184)

Each of the die-cut sentiments were popped up with dimensionals. I wrapped a length of Linen Thread around the embossed panel three times and finished with a bow. Don't forget that glue dot underneath the knot to keep it in place.

I added three of the clear Elegant Faceted Gems (AC pg157) for a little touch of bling. You can clearly see the facet cuts in this photo. I layered the Night of Navy panel onto a stitched rectangle of Real Red.

Well that's it from me tonight. Thanks for stopping by.

Now it's time to follow the rainbow and head over to the blog of the lovely, Michele.

  2. Great cards Caroline but the first is my definite favourite. The way you've used the stitched rectangles is so clever and by the way, I'm please to see you use a different embossing folder to the subtles (wink, wink) LOL!

  3. Love that your Stitched Rectangle dies worked overtime, Caroline ... these cards are fabulous! I really like how you popped up the smaller words on the first card; a great detail. Well done on stretching yourself outside your embossing folder comfort zone, for the second card! Lovely rainbow cards. :)
