Hello and welcome everyone.
It's Week 24 of the Colour Creations Showcase from the Art With Heart team.
Our featured colour tonight is Mango Melody, from our Brights Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.
It was great to work with this lovely orange/yellow for tonight's project, because it's a colour that I don't often reach for. I've teamed it with another colour from the Brights Family - Melon Mambo.
Here's my card.
I cut a piece of Mango Melody card stock with a Stitched Nested Labels die, and then I started layering on colour by sponging Mango Melody and Melon Mambo classic ink. The end result was this really striking, rich combination of the two colours.
I used the Stamparatus to stamp onto the die-cut with the large magnolia from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set in Versamark. I heat embossed the image in white embossing powder. I set that aside, and started working on the background image.
I took a piece of Whisper White thick card stock and placed it onto the stamparatus. I added ink to the stamp by sponging on Mango Melody and Melon Mambo. Initially, I had cut this piece to the correct size for the card front but I ended up stamping to low for it to end up centred with the focal image, so I just trimmed the top and added the Melon Mambo strips.
I sponged over the stamped image in the same colours, but this time making it much lighter for some contrast. I spritzed some water over this panel and dried with the heat tool, you can just see the fine water droplets. Then I took a fine paint brush and splattered some frost white Shimmer Paint over the embossed die-cut. I have popped it up with dimensionals, centering it over the background image so everything aligned.
The sentiment was heat embossed in white onto Basic Black card stock and it's from the Butterfly Wishes stamp set. Something I rarely do is fussy cut the sentiment out, but I did this time and I prefer it to a die-cut on this card.
Because the focal image is so strong in colour, I wanted to really soften the rest of the card. I made the double bow from white crinkle ribbon and I trimmed one of the square vellum doilies and added two small pieces of it. I also added five of the clear elegant faceted gems. The clear ones are great because you can see the background colour through them.
Well that's it from me tonight everyone, thanks for stopping by.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the team's Mango Melody projects.
