Hello and welcome everyone.
It's Week 50 of the Colour Creations Showcase from the Art With Heart team.
Tonight's featured colour is Soft Suede from the Neutrals Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.
For this weeks card I decided to add to my stash of masculine cards. The pile is a little on the low side so I took the opportunity of this weeks featured colour to add another one to it.
The Sailing Home stamp set and Smooth Sailing Dies have some lovely, nautical themed elements which make them a perfect choice for masculine designed cards.
The lighthouse is heat embossed with white embossing powder, all other stamped images are stamped in Soft Suede ink. A rule of thumb when embellishing or adding other elements to a card is to add them in odd numbers - 1, 3, 5 etc.
I feel the same goes with stamping.
The seagulls in the Sailing Home stamp set are a group of 3. You can see I stamped three to the right of the sentiment label and there are only two on the left. All I did here was I masked one of the gulls before inking.
I wanted a big sentiment so I chose this one from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. The die-cut label is from the Stitched So Sweetly dies. After stamping I embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder and then cut with the die. I cut another one in gold foil but cut it in half and trimmed it down to use on the sides of the main one.
I added Wink of Stella to the anchor, the rocky landscape, and a little inside the main windows of the lighthouse. I also added three gold gilded gems and you might just be able to see embossed lines on the Basic White card base, one above and two below the main panel.
It was only after I'd taken all of my photos, uploaded them and started writing this blog that I realised the Braided Linen Trim had retired.😩
A strip of Soft Suede and gold foil and another die-cut from the Smooth Sailing dies. It's cut in Crumb Cake card stock and I think it's meant to represent some rope - I'll stick with that thought anyway.
I'll have a full list of all the products I've used on my card at the end of this blog post.
If you have any questions about this card or anything else Stampin' Up! related please don't hesitate to get in touch.
I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the team's Soft Suede projects. And, thanks to our lovely hostess Catherine, you can check them all out too by using this link:
Stay safe and well. See you all again soon.

Oh Caroline I had to laugh about the braided trim - that's exactly what I did tonight with the silver foil on my card! This is a such a marvellous masculine card, for me those little stamped seagulls just really make this card. Thank you so much for all of your participation in the Colour Creations Showcase over the past 12 months.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great, classic, masculine card Caroline. Soft Suede is an unexpected colour to use on a nautical themed card, and it works beautifully! I love all the little details.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous masculine card Caroline. While I wouldn’t have thought of Soft Suede for a nautical theme, it all works brilliantly. I love all your details. Xxx
ReplyDeleteFabulous masculine card Caroline. The gold foil adds a real wow.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how I naturally head to blue tones for nautical theme cards, but this is lovely in natural tones with the gold accents and white embossing.
