AWH Team - Colour Creations Blog Hop 2021-2022 - Week 1 In Colours 2021-2023.

Hello and welcome everyone.

It's Week 1 of the NEW Colour Creations Showcase for 2021-2022 from the Art With Heart team.
Members of the team will still be showcasing all of Stampin' Up!'s wonderful colours in our projects. The only change will be at the end of each blog post where we have reverted to an older format of blog hopping.
You'll be able to click on the 'next blog' button to continue hopping or choose a team members name from a list we will publish to go straight to their blog.

As a Stampin' Up! team we continue, To Love what we do and Share what we love. So, we hope you will continue to love what we share with you all and feel inspired to make and enjoy your very own creations.

Tonight we are showcasing all of our 5 new In Colours for 2021-2023.

Here's my card.

For this card I've tried a new technique. Not new to the card making world, but certainly new to me. I'm not sure of the correct name for this technique, but it's simply water colouring using Acrylic Blocks. Perhaps you might be able to enlighten me on its proper title if it has one.

The method for this technique is pressing the flat surface of an acrylic block, in this case Block B, directly onto the stamp pad to ink it up. Then you spritz with water, not too much, just enough to get the ink moving a little. You don't want it to be dripping wet - ask me how I know! You then just stamp onto your card stock as you would if stamping an image, and lift the block carefully away.

If there is enough water, the colour should still move a little when you tilt the card. In my case it did and I helped the drying process by using my Heat Tool on its lowest setting. The air flow from the heat tool can also move the watery ink around.

The three coloured blocks are Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya and Polished Pink. I should mention here that I used water colour paper to stamp onto. After the colour blocks had thoroughly dried I stamped the strawberry blossom image from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set using Versamark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I also heat embossed the 'thank you' sentiment in white onto Basic Black card stock and fussy cut. I've used Basic Black for the matting which is a colour I don't use a lot of on my cards. I tried using Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent for the mats, but it didn't give me quite the same "pop" I was looking for.
What are your thoughts on using black for matting?

On the inside I glued down strips of each In Colour. The Polished Pink one was just a smidge narrower than the others so I stamped the strawberry blossoms in Memento Tuxedo Black ink over the top to help disguise it.

I wrapped a doubled length of white twine from the Snail Mail combo pack around the entire matted panel and tied it off into a bow. Touches of bling are the Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent In Colour rhinestones and one of the gorgeous bumblebee embellishments.

I'll have a full list of all the products I've used on this card at the end of my blog post. If you have any questions about the card or anything else Stampin' Up! related please don't hesitate to get in touch with me.

That's it from me tonight everyone, thanks for stopping by.

Stay safe and well. See you all again soon.

  7. Love the drama of a black mat, and those blocks of colour are dramatic too. I was surprised you'd embossed after, I was sure that it would have been done first.
