Colour Creations Week 12 - Coastal Cabana

Hello and welcome to Week 12 of the Colour Creations blog hop from the Art with Heart Team.

We are featuring Coastal Cabana on our projects tonight.
Coastal Cabana is a member of the Brights Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.

Here's my card.

I've been having a lot of fun playing and enjoying the wonderful and amazing patterns created when using the Stampin' Blends and isopropyl alcohol technique on vellum. Not only do they look fantastic as backgrounds, they look equally fantastic when die cut as well. For my horizontal slimline card I created a background.

The Stampin' Blend colours I used were Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy and Shaded Spruce. I would have used Coastal Cabana but we don't have them in the blends. I used the dark shades of each colour, and they go beautifully with Coastal Cabana.

The background reminded me of the dappled light through leaves on a tree so I decided to use a stamp set I don't use very often. I chose the birds on a branch from the Free As A Bird stamp set. I heat embossed them in black, adhered the vellum to a piece of adhesive sheet and then to a piece of Basic White card stock.

I added this piece to a layer of Coastal Cabana with foam adhesive sheets. Instead of embossing this entire piece I added scored lines using the Simply Scored board. I've been doing this a lot lately and it adds the right amount of texture without trying to find the right embossing folder to suit the design.

The white heat embossed sentiment is from the Art Gallery stamp set. I cropped it with the narrow rectangular die from the All Dressed Up dies and added three silver metallic pearls to the end of it.

There'll be a list of the products I've used on my card below.

That's it from me tonight everyone, thanks for stopping by.

Let's go see the rest of the teams Coastal Cabana projects.

  1. What a beautiful, clean yet detailed, card, Caroline! The background you created is gorgeous, and with three colours I wouldn't have thought to use together. You're right, they go beautifully with Coastal Cabana. Loving the scored lines in the background panel.

  3. The alcohol background is amazing, I haven't ever got that effect. The birds on a branch is a really good choice and the panel contrasts well with the Coastal Cabana. Really like this in the longer card too.

  7. Wow, your background is amazing Caroline. The lovely image from Free as a Bird was the perfect choice. So different to see you step away from your usual white card base but I love it.
