Colour Creations Week 22 - Highland Heather

Hello and welcome to the Colour Creations blog hop from the Art with Heart Team.

Our featured colour tonight is Highland Heather from the Subtles Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.

For our Heart of Christmas blog hop on Monday night, I shared a Double Gate Fold card. It's a great way to show off both sides of a DSP pattern. Tonight I've made the same fun-fold design using a piece of our Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper. Highland Heather features beautifully in this particular pattern.

I've had my pack of Hand-Penned DSP for a while now, but it was only yesterday that I received the bundle which consists of the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set and Penned Flowers Dies. I put this card together last night because I couldn't wait to play with these lovely products.

Closed or open this lovely fun-fold card looks so special. To decorate the front I used scalloped dies from the Stitched So Sweetly set and one of the Penned Flowers dies that cuts out the stamped image. I've also used my Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder to add some texture.

I will give you a tip here. Stamp the stem of the flower first, die cut, and then add the flower buds afterwards. I found this so easy to do as the photopolymer stamp allows you to see through to line up the image perfectly.
With a blending brush I brushed on some Highland Heather colour over the top of the embossing before adding the die cut image. The clear rhinestones were coloured with my dark Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blend marker, and the bow is Fresh Freesia. Wink of Stella brushed onto the tiny buds adds some shimmery sparkle.

Another look at the closed front.

I took my paper snips and fussy cut one of the floral images straight from the DSP. It adds such a lovely touch to the writing panel. I stamped the sentiment in Highland Heather.

Well that's it from me tonight everyone, thanks for stopping by.
Lets go see the rest of the team's Highland Heather creations for Week 22 of the Colour Creations blog hop.

Our next creative and talented team member is, Andrea Sargent.

If you do have any link issues, there will be a complete list of all tonight's participants and their blog links on the blog of our lovely host, Catherine Proctor.

Stay safe and well. See you all again soon. 🌼

  3. We had the same idea with the papers, and theme of our cards, but your fold is MUCH more impressive than mine, Caroline! Gorgeous. I love the shimmer on the flower buds, and the fussy-cut floral piece on the inside.
