Our featured colour tonight is Melon Mambo from the Bright's Collection of Stampin' Up! colours.
I think that I can finally say that 'yes, I do have a favourite colour' - it's pink!
And if you love pink, then you'll love Melon Mambo. It's bright and pretty, and very pink. Inspiration for tonight's project came from a picture I saw of a home decor' piece, shown here.
And here's my project.
After a few attempts I finally settled on the layout above and I love how it turned out. The images from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper are so versatile, making it easy to create projects for anyone and everyone. And the wood patterns in particular are just gorgeous. I used two of them on my card.
I finally got the chance to use the Christmas Trees Dies. I've had them for only a little while but I was waiting for the right project to use them on. I wasn't interested in them at all to start with but as usual I just had to get them after seeing so many beautiful projects made with them.
From Melon Mambo card stock, I cut three trees using the two unique stick design dies. Each one was then attached to a stitched rectangle using the adhesive sheets.
The white embossed sentiment on Melon Mambo card stock was fussy cut with my paper snips and it's from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set. Using a blending brush and Melon Mambo ink I added colour to leaf die cuts from the Christmas Trimmings die set. I attached them to the back of the sentiment with glue dots and then the whole piece is added to the card with dimensionals.
To decorate the inside I layered the basic white writing panel onto another piece of the woodgrain DSP. For a little bit of added interest I rounded the two opposite corners.
Embellishments are linen thread, a foil star and matte dots in white from the new Jan-June Mini Catalogue.

Caroline, this is such a soft and pretty take on a traditional Christmas card – I just love it and the home decor piece that inspired it. I wasn't interested in those tree dies at the start, either, but I'm regretting not having purchased them, especially after seeing your stunning card tonight!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is delightful, Caroline. Thank you for including a photo of your inspiration piece; I love how this translated to a gorgeous card. I wouldn't have thought to pair Melon Mambo with woodgrain paper, but I absolutely love the look! Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your inspiration piece and what you have created, Caroline. The different wood DSPs work together beautifully and those tree dies are so cute in Melon Mambo for a non-traditional Christmas card. I love your Melon Mambo nails to match too!!!
