The Heart of Christmas - Week 22

Hello crafting friends and welcome to Week 22 of The Heart of Christmas from the Art with Heart Team.

This week I'm sharing a set of 12 Christmas tags packaged beautifully in our clear Tiny Treat boxes.

The little tags measure 1-7/8" x 3-3/4" and scored @ 1-7/8" - they are such a cute size.  I am not the original designer of these, I found them on Pinterest last year and thought they were so sweet.

If you are able to find the original designer, you will see that she used regular cardstock for the tags and cut small squares of DSP for the fronts. I made mine the same last year, as thank-you gifts for my class ladies at Christmas, but I found it really time consuming. So this time I have used the GORGEOUS! Year of Cheer Specialty DSP - I absolutely love this pack! All the designs are in our beautiful foil colours, so it eliminates the need to add another piece of DSP, and the reverse side is Whisper White, so it's perfect for writing and stamping on.
That's a win, win!

I stamped the Merry Christmas from the 'Teeny Tiny Sentiments' stamp set in our Annual Catalogue and the inside stamp is from the 'Tags & Trimmings' stamp set on page 15 of the Christmas/Holiday Catalogue.
*I've used the Word Window punch and Corded Trim which are both RETIRED products.

These little tags with their shiny foil and sparkly rhinestones would be great as Craft Fair or Fete sellers. I really love them!

Well that's all for this week friends, be sure to stop by next Wednesday, as the Art with Heart Team continue to share some Christmas inspiration with you all.
Remember to hop over to the blog of our lovely team leader Claire to see what she has made this week. Claire also has a list of other team members who participated in Week 22.

Matt's card

Hi crafting friends, it's the start of another week and today I wanted to share with you all another masculine card I made recently for our youngest son's birthday in September.

As I've mentioned before I, like a lot of other people, struggle with ideas for masculine cards, but with so many different images and sentiments in the 'Guy Greetings' stamp set, I had an idea of what I wanted to make in no time at all.
So here it is.

I used Very Vanilla and Dapper Denim and a piece of the Eastern Palace DSP. My card base is a tent fold card and I love all of the layers, and the Hexagon embossed piece really adds to the overall masculine look and feel of the card. The man image and World's Greatest are both from the 'Guy Greetings' stamp set. The son is from 'Thoughtfull Banners' and fits perfectly inside the border stamp from 'Happy Birthday Gorgeous', and punched out with the Classic Label punch.

I kept the inside simple with just the Happy Birthday sentiment, which left me more room to write my personal message. I love matting the inside of cards too - it changes the look from plain to something really special.

Thanks for stopping by today, I really appreciate all of you taking the time to look. I'd love to read your comments, if you have any, so please feel free to say hi and add a comment below.

Until next time.....

The Heart of Christmas - Week 21

Hi crafting friends and welcome to Week 21 of The Heart of Christmas with the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! Team.

I had a few circles left over from last weeks blog hop project, (For Dorothy), so I decided to make a card using them.

I started with a thick Very Vanilla card base that measures 4-1/8" x 5-1/2" when folded.
I cut a piece of the Bundle of Love Specialty DSP the same width as the card front by 3", and ran a strip of the gold Year of Cheer washi tape across the top and also across the top of the card itself. Using the left over Bundle of Love circles, I adhered the gold/vanilla one with Tombow and the Blushing Bride one with dimensionals. I hardly ever use my stash of Metallic Thread, (and I really should!), but I think it looks gorgeous here with the addition of the gold glimmer stars.

The reindeer in Gold Foil and the wreath in Blushing Bride are cut from the Santa's Sleigh Thinlits Dies. The greeting is from the 'Labels to Love' stamp set and is heat embossed in gold. The other embellishments are our Metallic Enamel Shapes in gold.

I decided not to stamp a sentiment inside, but rather leave it for more room to write a personal message. However, I stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed the little deer from the 'Carols of Christmas' stamp set and added some gold foil stars to mimic the card front. I have matted a piece of Very Vanilla onto some Blushing Bride CS to stay with the colour theme and again added a strip of the gold washi tape to bring it all together.

Thanks for stopping by this week, remember to check back next Wednesday to see what the team has created for Week 22.
For now, hop over to the blog of our lovely team leader Claire Daly to see what she has made, and, where you'll find a list of the team members who participated this week.

AWH Team Blog Hop - For Dorothy - October 2017

Tonight the Art with Heart team girls are sharing some wonderful ideas to inspire you with our Designer Series Papers. This month is the start of the new Stampin' Up! year and we have a special promotion on our Designer Series Paper, buy 3 get 1 FREE for the month of October and there is no limit!
Just get in touch with me or your demonstrator if you would like to know more about this fantastic offer! Our DSP can be used in so many ways - it's not just for cards or scrapbook pages. The quality of Stampin' Up!s DSP is second to none.

You may be wondering why I have written For Dorothy in my title. Well Dorothy, or Dot to all who knew and loved her, was my mother-in-law and I would like to dedicate this hop project in her memory.
It was Dot who taught me how to make these Christmas decorations many years ago using recycled Christmas cards and at the time they were all the rage. Dot was a great crafter and enjoyed many different types of crafts.
Sadly our Dot passed away in 1990 from breast cancer at the age of 54.

The Bundle of Love Specialty DSP with the pretty pink of Blushing Bride and the lovely Gold Foil was the perfect choice for this handmade decoration. I started by punching out 20 circles with the 2" punch and scoring an equilateral triangle measuring 1 3/4", you then fold on the scored lines to create the shape needed.

I've used a Gold Mini Tassel and two of the Powder Pink Bitty Bows, which are stuck back to back and either side of the tassel ring to decorate the bottom of the bauble. I threaded a long piece of bakers twine onto a needle to pull the tassel up into place and tied a knot leaving quite a long loop, then I cut a piece of the Gold Metallic-Edge ribbon and passed that through the bakers twine loop to form another loop and tied it off. It is a little hard to explain exactly in words, but I hope you're able to see what I did and mean from the photos. The two knots are inside the bauble, leaving a nice finished loop at the top for hanging.

When Dot showed me how these were made we just stapled our circles together, but I have used Tombow for a neater finish. You need 5 circles for the top and bottom and 10 around the middle.

I will hang this from our tree this year in loving memory of our beautiful Dot.

The Heart of Christmas - Week 20

Hello crafting friends and welcome to Week 20 of the Heart of Christmas.

I hope you are really enjoying our Art with Heart teams weekly posts bringing you Christmas inspired cards and projects every Wednesday until the end of November.

My card this week is a really fun card, where I have used all of the ink colours from our 2017-2019 In-Colour collection on my stamped stitched square.

I loved using these fun, non-traditional colours on my card. The greetings are from four different stamp sets and all the stars are from the 'Star of Light' stamp set. I've added some rhinestones and a glitter enamel dot for the star centres. I've mounted this onto a square of Berry Burst and scalloped square of Lemon Lime Twist and this is attached to the Holly embossed layer with dimensionals. This is matted onto Berry Burst and added to my Thick Whisper White card base. Since watching a video on how to create a double-bow, I grab any opportunity to make another one for my cards and this one uses the 1/4" Lemon Lime Twist Ombre Ribbon from the Annual Catalogue.

And, what's a Christmas tree without tinsel? - just a tree!
I've cut pieces of the silver Mini Tinsel Trim to decorate this little tree and it is die cut from the 6 x 6 Quilted Christmas DSP. The Quilt Builder Framelits have a matching triangle shape to cut this out, and also a little die for the star on top and the tree base. By placing the base under the tree this way, it looks like the trunk of the tree. If you place it the other way up it looks like the tree is sitting in a little bucket; either way looks cute! I've added a touch of Wink of Stella to the Berry Burst star.

Staying with the fun theme, inside I chose this sentiment from the 'Labels to Love' stamp set, inked in Berry Burst and stamped onto Whisper White and matted with Berry Burst. I've never been a huge fan of washi tape, but the Year of Cheer washi tape is just too gorgeous to resist, and I've added it to the bottom of the writing panel.

Well that's it for another week - see you next Wednesday for Week 21 of the Heart of Christmas.

The lovely Tina Gillespie is hosting the list of other participants this week, over on her blog, so be sure to check them out.

Until next time.....

The Heart of Christmas - Week 19

Hi crafting friends and welcome to Week 19 of the Heart of Christmas.

This week I wanted to make a wreath card using the new Leaf Punch. (#144667)

I have seen a few card designs on YouTube using the leaf punch to make a Christmas wreath and thought that I would give it a try.
My colours are Whisper White and Night of Navy with the punched leaves in Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper, Silver and Champagne Foil and Night of Navy. It is always difficult to photograph anything with this amount of shimmer and shine and it does look a bit coppery, but the combination is just so pretty in real life.

This is a better photo showing more of the silver tone. The card base measures 5 1/2" square when folded. The matted pieces are Silver Foil and Night of Navy. I cut the silver foil centre circle from the matted foil square to save my paper and ran that through the Big Shot using the Layered Leaves 3D Dynamic TIEF. The Night of Navy circle is cut using one of the Stitched Shape Circles, both circles have been adhered with dimensionals. The sweet little greeting is from 'Teeny Tiny Sentiments' and I have heat embossed this in our silver embossing powder, and then from the 'Happy Birthday Gorgeous' stamp set I found that the label stamp fitted perfectly around the greeting and I inked that up in Night of Navy and punched out with the coordinating Classic Label Punch, also adhered with dimensionals. Lastly, I just arranged the leaves around the embossed circle and glued in place with Tombow, then added my beautiful double bow made from the Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon and a few sparkly rhinestones.

On the inside I matted a piece of Whisper White onto Night of Navy and stamped the lovely sentiment from the 'Merry Mistletoe' stamp set in Night of Navy and added the gorgeous garland from the same set below that.

Well thanks for stopping by today, have a wonderful day.
