Happy Wedding Day!

Hello again friends and welcome to today's blog post.

In my last post, I shared a card I had made for a new baby, and today I'm sharing a couple of wedding cards with you. No matter what the occasion or celebration, Stampin' Up! have everything you need to create beautiful projects.

So lets get started!

This is the first card I made for a very special wedding my husband John and I attended, and in hind-sight I think I would have liked a matt of gold foil behind the DSP panel, but it's still a beautiful card, and I'm very happy with the end result.

With all the excitement that comes with Sale-A-Bration and the Occasions Catalogue, it's easy to forget the wonderful stamp sets and DSP in our Annual Catalogue, so I decided to give some of these products a bit of lovin'.

Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper

I have used the gorgeous Bundle of Love Specialty DSP. It has gold foil designs on one side and Soft Sky and Blushing Bride on the other. Both sides of the paper are accented with Very Vanilla. It's such a versatile patterned paper and perfect for any occasion card. The stamp set I used is 'Beautiful Bouquet' and it is a stunning set with beautiful matching sentiments for outside and in. I did use a retired SU crimper for the vanilla heart, but the hearts are cut with the Sweet & Sassy Framelits, and the gold metallic-edge ribbon and metallic enamel heart shapes are perfect embellishments. I'll have a full list of supplies and products used, at the end of my post.

Inside the card I created an embossed vellum pocket to hold our monetary gift but you could fit a gift card inside easily.

This is such a lovely sentiment.

Of course I had to make an envelope for such a special card.
Front of the envelope.

Back of the envelope.

The second card I'm sharing today is one of two that I was asked to make by one of my new class attendees and I have to confess this is my favourite out of the two. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the first card!

On this card I have used the coordinating Bouquet Bunch Framelits. Don't you just love a matching stamp and die set?! - I know I do!
I stamped the same sentiment inside as I did in the card above and again, made the matching envelope on the EPB.

 Front of the envelope

and the back.

I really enjoyed creating these cards, it's so nice to get the creative juices flowing. There is truly something very special about handmade cards from the heart.

Oh, and a quick P.S. - all of the stamping is heat embossed in gold.

Well friends, that's where I'll leave you today. I hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy some crafting time soon.

Until next time...

Welcome to the World!

Hi & happy Sunday friends!

It's an absolutely beautiful morning here, not a cloud in the sky unfortunately, and we so desperately need rain across many areas here in Australia. Anyway, instead of making hay while the sun shines; as the saying goes, lets make cards.

And here is a special card that I had a lot of fun making.

A welcome card for a new baby. Obviously my card is for a baby girl, but it would look great in any colour! I have used the 'Sweet Little Something'  stamp set from the Occasions Catalogue and a sentiment from the 'Baby Bear' stamp set in the Annual Catalogue.

Image from the Occasions Catalogue

Being a photopolymer set, the little bunny is a "three step" stamp and very easy to line up. On its featured page in the catalogue, it has a 3 step photo showing which stamp to ink up first. You start with the darkest colour and finish with the lightest. I practised a few times stamping the bunny onto scrap paper before I was happy and confident to stamp my image for the card. I recommend you do this too as not only does "practise make perfect", but it also helps to season your stamp, so to speak, especially if your stamp is new.
Both the bunny and the scalloped square frame were cut with the Layering Square Framelits and attached to the card front with dimensionals. I made a layered banner with the Banner Triple punch and stamped my sentiment from the 'Baby Bear' stamp set onto it. The sentiment is a one line stamp so I firstly inked up the word "Welcome" and stamped, then masked off "welcome and world" with washi tape, and inked up "to the" and stamped, and then finished inking up "world" and stamped. Just remember to remove the washi tape before stamping - ask me how I know! đŸ˜‰

I wrapped a piece of the Silver Baker' twine around the banner a few times and tied the ends into a bow and added a rhinestone to finish off the bling. Of course bunny needed a bow as well so I used one of the Bitty Bows from the AC. The bunny and banner were attached to a an embossed layer of Whisper White and then Pink Pirouette. I stamped the three little flowers that are in the Sweet Little Something set into the circles created by the Polka Dot Basics TIEF, in Sweet Sugarplum, stamping full colour then second and third generation shades of the ink.

Instead of creating a separate item to hold the gift card we gave, this is what I did.

On the inside upper fold of the card I attached this gift card holder I made using the dies from the 'Lots to Love Box Framelits'. I stamped one of the little flowers again in varying shades of Sweet Sugarplum ink, so that once the gift card is removed it still looks pretty.

Photo showing gift card in place.

Thanks for stopping by today. I have a list of the products I've used to create this card below, just click on the image and it will take you to my online store.

Until next time.....

Sweet Soiree Tissue Box Cover

Hello friends and welcome to today's blog post.

The project I'm sharing with you all today is a cover for a small box of tissues, and I simply could not go past using the absolutely beautiful DSP from the Sweet Soiree Suite of products in our Occasions Catalogue.

Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper

Stampin' Up! have truly outdone themselves with this years catalogue, it really has something for everyone, including an amazing suite for the men in our lives. So, if you don't have a copy of the catalogue and would love to have a browse through one, just send me an email with your request and I'll pop one in the post for you.

Now, onto the project!

I found the design for this cover on Pinterest, however I can't give credit to anyone in particular as there were just so many pins all with the same idea.
Isn't this pattern on the DSP gorgeous?! I think it's my favourite, but they're all so gorgeous it's hard to pick just one!

Here is a photo without the tissues to show the pretty scalloped circle frame around the opening.
It was made with our Layering Circle Framelits, using both a scalloped and regular circle. The basic box cover is made with our thick Whisper White cardstock.

Another cover made with a different pattern from the Sweet Soiree DSP and here I have added a white daisy using our Daisy Punch. I also punched a small circle from Old Olive cardstock for the centre of the flower and added a clear Faceted Gem, then just a touch of Wink of Stella to the flower tips.
This was my February class project and we made a matching card with the cut-out circle from the box. I'll share a photo of the card in another post. This is a nice, practical little gift and the ladies that attended class really enjoyed making their cover and matching card.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you may have gotten some inspiration from the project.

Now there's no excuse not to pretty up a boring box of tissues, so go and make a cover today!

Here are my measurements:-

  • Base:  2 pieces of cardstock that measure 5" x 9 1/4" and score @ 1/2" & 4 3/4" on both pieces along the 9 1/4" side.
  • Lid:  1 piece of cardstock that measures 6 5/16" x 6 9/16" and score @ 1" on all four sides.
  • DSP:  For the base you will need - 2 pieces 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" & 2 pieces 3 3/4" x 4".
  • DSP:  For the lid you will need - 1 piece that measures 4 1/4" x 4" (this is for the top), 2 pieces that measure 3/4" x 4 1/4" (side) and 2 pieces that measure 3/4" x 4" (side).
You should have an 1/8" border from the edge of the DSP on the top and all sides of the box. I strongly suggest you dry fit before gluing. As a tip, I would glue all of the DSP to the lid first. See the photos for placement.

*Glue the DSP to the top of your lid before running it through the Big Shot. Also you will need to fold under one of the flaps on the shorter side of the lid to fit it through the Big Shot. It will leave a slight impression from the circle framelit, but it will be on the underside when the lid is glued together and it won't be noticeable.

I have a list of all the products I used for this project below.

Until next time.....
